2003 Memphis Chamber Quality Cup Award Winners
|
The Results are In!
What do NovaCopy, Inc., Printronix,
Lanier Middle School, and
Archimania all have in common? They are
winners of the 2003 Memphis Regional Chamber Quality Cup Team Award. These winning teams serve as regional role models,
encouraging others to accept principles and practices that lead to continuous improvements
and customer satisfaction. The teams were recognized on four different levels for making
an exceptional contribution to their employers quality improvement programs.
NovaCopy,
Inc.
Summit Level
Winner
NovaCopy, Inc. was awarded the Quality Cup at the Summit Level. This
full service distributor of office automation equipment re-engineered its critical service
management processes and achieved dramatic, measurable quality improvements. This includes reducing process cycle time from
receipt of request for service from the customer to arrival time of the technician in the
customers office.

The Progressive Level was awarded to Printronix. This team created a quality system that was
compliant to ISO 9001 by carefully brainstorming and planning out their tasks and goals. They created documented procedures, attended
trainings, conducted surveys, and created a database for customer complaints. By creating this quality system, Printronix has
increased their productivity and decreased their cost per line.

Lanier Middle School
Challenge Level Winner
Lanier Middle School received the Quality Cup at the Challenge Level. This
comprehensive middle school found a way to increase their students awareness of the
needs of the community in which they live in by initiating a project called Field of
Dreams. This project focuses on improving teaming among interdisciplinary
teams of teachers and improving the community park adjacent to the schools campus.
It has provided a Service Learning program which allows students to volunteer their
services to the community.

Archimania
Interest Level Winner
At the
Interest Level, Archimania created a formal internal infrastructure to manage their
business. The infrastructure was not apparent
until their quality team was put into place. In
trying to improve the small business, Archimania hired experience, formed a management
team, and identified key areas in their infrastructure that would benefit both their
clients and the business. With these efforts,
Archimania has made the transition from a start-up organization to a full-fledged small
business.
