Dr. Fisher has authored and co-authored five books which address every sector of the
economy on how to use the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria to assess
organizations and institutions. He has advised many companies, given and received

Gate Gourmet International is a division of SwissAir of Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Donald
C. Fisher (right) has served as an advisor for Gate Gourmet's Global quality project named
"Global Service Excellence." On a recent trip to Arbon Switzerland, Dr. Fisher
gave a presentation to managers that are participating in the global pilot group to
formalize the project. In addition to Dr. Fisher's presentation, presenters from Gate
Gourmet International included Claudia Glueck (Global Manager of Quality Assurance),
Nicolas Gueissaz (Executive Vice President of Global Operations), and Henning Boysen
(President and CEO).

Dr. Patrick Fottrell, President of National University of Ireland, Galway,
accepts two of Dr. Fisher's books, Baldrige on Campus and Demystifying
Baldrige, following a Baldrige Assessment Workshop on the Ireland campus.

Dr. Fisher received a certificate from Dr. Sheila Widnall, Secretary of the Air
Force at the Pentagon in Washington after serving as a senior judge for the Baldrige-based
U.S. Air Force award.

Dr. Fisher presented a book to Mr. Cassam Uteem, President of the Republic
of Mauritius, during his trip to lead site visit teams for that nation's first national
quality award based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria.

Dr. Fisher delivered an institutional Baldrige Assessment to Vice
President
of Business and Finance, John Kirk, and Vice President of Academic
Affairs,
Dr. Robert Palinchak of Southwest Tennessee Community College.

Dr. Fisher has numerous involvements with Baldrige on state, national and
international boards:
- served three years (1989-1991) on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board of
Examiners;
- is currently serving in his fifth year as a national Baldrige consultant for the
National Association for College and University Business Offices (NACUBO) in Washington,
DC. He wrote Baldrige criteria for their award and provided feedback reports on all
college and university applicants;
- served as a visiting scholar to the nation of Mauritius for their first Baldrige award.
Led seven Baldrige site visit teams and served as their first judge for the award.
The trip was sponsored by the World Bank;
- is in his second year as a Member of the Panel of Judges, President's Quality Award,
Washington, DC;
- taught Board of Examiners for the Tennessee Quality Award (TQA) for two years;
- is serving his sixth year as a Judge for the Tennessee Quality Award;
- is serving as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Quality Award;
- is serving in his second year on the Board of Judges for the Rochester Institute of
Technology (RIT) - USA Today Quality Cup Team Award;
- appointed to conduct the examiner training for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Quality
Award (CKQA) for 1998;
- served as a judge for the first Commonwealth of Kentucky Quality Award (CKQA) during
1997;
- is serving on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Quality Observer International News
magazine.
